welp
there goes the dutch TT....... wich also means damn near all the bars and restaurants in town are going to go out of business as motogp week pretty much pays their bills for the year....pretty quiet here the rest of the year..
hardly a surprise...but still...sucky
maybe they’ll still manage to run a race here this year...but i very much doubt the weeklong festival will be coming along with it... could be a long long time before they think having a hundred thousand or so party goers in the middle of town is a good idea...

My state has decided to open back up for business. That’s right! You can now get Covid at the movie theater, hair salon, bowling alley - you name it! So come on down to the awful state of Georgia - where Covid is just one bowling lane away!

Last to close, first to open...right? :P
Thankfully the major population centers have mostly been fighting back against Kemp, at least a little. Further, part of the problem is similar to anywhere that a single major metro area makes up almost half the state — wildly differ ing situations for everyone, all being governed under one policy.
If Marie’s Beauty Salon and Tanning Bed outside Statesboro wants to legally start letting in one person at a time, that might be okay. If the Varsity or Olympic Park want to reopen, that’s a different beast.
Hopefully personal responsibility and local authority prevail.

And that’s the thing, isn’t it - this one size fits all mentality. In my county, they shut down car washes over the weekend. All car washes. From detailers to the car washes where employees vacuum the interior and wipe down the car to self-serve car washes to those drive-thru car washes at gas stations. Explain that! lol

The odd thing about the city here is that a lot of locations have just decided to stay open regardless. I know of two places that have had the cops at their location more than once. Everyone gets sent home but they’re back the next day. There are a lot of strange folks who refuse to acknowledge how serious this is.

Hmm , I thought drive-thru carwashes would be one of the only things to keep going. I went to one last week and even (reluctantly) slipped the attendant a couple bucks through the window for scrubbing the glass so well beforehand.
No reason he should be out of a job — business is already slow as it is.

Over here in AL, it’s such a mixed bag. Every peer I know is keeping to themselves pretty well, schools have been done (for the year) for almost a month, and everyone is getting settled in. Our church has been doing remote services for 5 weeks now.
Meanwhile my parents and my MIL — both in the area — are still referring to this like it’s just the flu, and basically rolling their eyes that we won’t let the kids go play with grandma and grandpa...I hate to sound too stereotypical, but you can probably guess their primary cable TV news source.
My mom has been to two routine doctor appointments in the past couple weeks. I can’t believe they took her.

By drive-thru, I meant the ones that you stay in your car, you go through the machine, and then you drive away - no opportunity for human contact of any kind. CLOSED! lol

Yep, that’s the one I mean, too — they still need human attendants (I mean the nicer freestanding ones, not just gas station ones). But yeah, it seems crazy to close those at all.
